MYP 4: James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time

Dear students  In today's lesson, you explored  James Baldwin's  The Fire Next Time , a powerful collection of essays that challenges us to think deeply about race, identity, justice, and the structures that shape society. Through Baldwin's prophetic voice, you examined how racism is not simply the result of individual actions but a system that has been built and maintained over generations. As you analysed Baldwin's ideas, you considered the role of history, language, religion, and personal experience in shaping identity and inequality. You also explored his belief that lasting change requires honesty, empathy, and the courage to confront uncomfortable truths. As you reflect on today's discussion, ask yourself:  How can literature help us better understand injustice, challenge our assumptions, and inspire meaningful change in the world around us? Please find the link to the lesson.  Happy learning  Ms Risha
