Dear students 

In today's lesson, you journeyed into the magical world of One Thousand and One Nights through the tale "The Prince and the Ghooleh." As you followed the Prince's adventure, you explored how folklore uses memorable characters and exciting events to teach timeless values.

Together, we examined the themes of kindness, courage, faith, trust, and justice, while analysing literary elements such as conflict, symbolism, foreshadowing, dramatic irony, and the motif of disguise and deception. You discovered that true bravery is not about fighting with force, but about remaining calm, thinking wisely, and making thoughtful choices in difficult situations.

As you reflect on today's lesson, consider this question: How can we balance kindness with caution, and what can ancient stories teach us about making wise decisions in our own lives?

Dear students, In this lesson , we explore the poem “If We Must Die” by Claude McKay and examine how literature presents conflict as a moral and ethical challenge . Through a close reading of the poem, we discuss the speaker’s response to injustice and how dignity, courage, and collective strength shape the way conflict is faced. We pay attention to the context of the poem and the powerful choices of language used by the poet to influence the reader’s emotions. Rather than focusing on violence, the poem encourages us to think about self-respect, unity, and ethical judgement when confronted with oppression. Through reflection and creative responses, students engage with the poem on a personal level, considering how individuals and communities can respond to conflict with integrity and purpose. Dear students,  In today’s media-rich world, students are constantly surrounded by messages—on screens, in print, and through social platforms. Helping young learners understand how these messages work is an essential life skill, and this formed the focus of a recent MYP 1 lesson on Understanding Media . The lesson introduced students to the idea that media is not just entertainment, but a powerful tool used to communicate information, ideas, and opinions. Students explored different forms of media , including print, digital, and social media, and reflected on where they encounter these messages in their daily lives.
